WHY TEAM VELO:

Team Velo was first set up by our MD, Chris Mitchell as an adventure and team building experience. For most of the team this will be our second Velo trip and if we are honest although tired when we arrived at Paris last year we wanted to go on for another 3 days! The atmosphere, sense of comradery and fun make it a great all round experience.

YOUR MOST MEMORABLE CYCLING EXPERIENCE/INCIDENT:

Riding with Team Sky and Jaguar.

CYCLING EXPERIENCE:

The majority of the team have owned road bikes for less than 2 years

YOUR FAVOURITE POST BIKE RIDE SNACK/MEAL:

McDonalds – 20 chicken nuggets!

WHAT YOU ARE MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO DURING THE CHALLENGE:

Beating the Springboard Team and bring home the trophy. (anything less and we are all out of a job and left in Paris!)

WHAT YOU ARE MOST NERVOUS ABOUT DURING THE CHALLENGE:

Matt getting a puncture (7 two years ago, Jack’s bike falling apart after he cleans the mud off it!)

WHY TEAM VELO:

YOUR MOST MEMORABLE CYCLING EXPERIENCE/INCIDENT:

Cedric – One summer, I was gone mountain biking with friend on a very foggy day. Going down quite fast on the 4 wheel drive track, I almost run into a cow.

Dominika – getting lost in the Heathrow area with dead battery on my phone and cycling around for over an hour in cold, dark January. Ended up driving into pavement, broken bike, having a little cry and calling cab home!

CYCLING EXPERIENCE:

Iona – just starting

Cedric – Started first doing mountain biking during my summer holidays when I was 6 years old. I have done it every summer for 15 years. I then started using the road bike for commuting and extended my rides to week end.

YOUR FAVOURITE POST BIKE RIDE SNACK/MEAL:

Mike – Domino’s pizza

Iona – BBQ

Dominika – peanut butter protein bar

WHAT YOU ARE MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO DURING THE CHALLENGE:

Iona – getting to Paris and enjoying the countryside!

Cedric – 3 consecutive days on the road and covering a long distance

Mike – not dying

Dominika – sense of achievement! Always wanted to do London to Paris bike ride!

WHAT YOU ARE MOST NERVOUS ABOUT DURING THE CHALLENGE:

Cedric – being ready for it

Iona – Getting on my bike on the second day

Dominika – flat tires, hate it

Ian P: Doing a paper round aged 13 – I rode into the back of a parked motorbike (Head down into snow)

Ian P: My bike was OK the Motor bike got written off!

Ian P: Not touched a bike for over 30 years – Until Mrs Pierce came along!

Graeme: Bad weather

Ian: Navigational skills of my friend and myself resulting in a much longer route!!

WHY TEAM VELO:

This is a great Charity for which all of us wish to support. Also a bit of healthy industry rivalry

YOUR MOST MEMORABLE CYCLING EXPERIENCE/INCIDENT

Malcolm: The most memorable cycling experience has to be the Ride London 100 in 2014. Riding the Olympic road race track was a great experience even though it hammered down with rain for most of the day

Mark: Cycling into a bus stop full of people on the way home from work. Luckily no one was hurt but I was quite embarrassed.

CYCLING EXPERIENCE:

Malcolm: I have been cycling for over 10 years now mainly in sportives and Triathlon events but have done a cycling holiday in France along the Dordogne river route

Mark: Mostly commuting to and from work around 12 miles daily. Light riding on Sundays and a few weekends cycle touring with my brother

Malcolm: Cornish Pasty

Mark: Bananas, nature’s energy bar

WHAT YOU ARE MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO DURING THE CHALLENGE:

Malcolm: Good weather, spectacular countryside and being part of a team

Mark: Taking in the French countryside and the ride through Paris

Malcolm: Nothing really, just enjoy the event
